Business strategy. Karate progress. Task execution.
Fresh business strategy
Last week, my business partner Markus and I met in Germany to spend a few days discussing our strategy for the rest of the year. I had the perfect time. Not only did we have intensive, productive conversations. We also got to have them in the ideal environment. The hotel Markus had picked took great care of us, and over two long walks through the countryside, we kept both our thoughts and our feet in motion. 20k steps on day 1, 30k steps on day 2! Now that I’m back home comes the harder part: execution.
Karate progress
A few weeks ago, I made brown belt (3rd kyu), an important milestone for me. When I started doing Karate again last autumn, I wasn’t sure if I’d still be capable of progressing. Looks like I am. Looking forward to class tonight.
Doing > Managing
This is a bit of a follow-up on the topic of execution mentioned above. I constantly have to remind myself that the most sophisticated task management system isn’t worth the effort if I don’t get things done. I designed a system in Notion. It had lots of valuable data. Problem was that I didn’t have enough focus to execute on it. I moved everything into Obsidian. Didn’t solve my focus problem either. This week, I switched to a simple digital todo list, accompanied by daily plans on paper. Having a notebook in front of me all the time helps enormously with keeping distractions at bay.
